The Picturesque Prasonisi
Prasonisi cape is an islet and peninsula attached to the island of Rhodes. It is located 92 km from Rhodes town and 40 km from Lindos, at the south-western part of Rhodes. Prasonisi is the Greek word for “green island”.
During summertime, when water levels are low, the cape becomes a peninsula attached to Rhodes, but during wintertime, when water levels rise, Prasonisi becomes an islet. The southernmost tip of Prasonisi contains a lighthouse, and the closest village is Kattavia. However, there is a purpose-built settlement on Prasonisi that includes convenience stores, restaurants and windsurf rentals, which are open seasonally. Near Prasonisi is Vroulia, an ancient settlement that presents an impressive mosaic tiled floor.
